About the founder

Nicholas Schnaufer, CIH, CSP

Founder and lead developer, Fouled Anchor Safety LLC

Nicholas Schnaufer, CIH, CSP, is the founder of Fouled Anchor Safety LLC. He served 20 years as an Industrial Hygiene Officer in the U.S. Navy Medical Service Corps, with two deployments aboard USS Carl Vinson, including the opening strikes of Operation Enduring Freedom, and a ground deployment with the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing in Al Asad, Iraq. He holds a BS in Environmental Health Sciences from the University of Georgia and an MSPH in Environmental Health Sciences from the University of South Carolina, and has more than 25 years of occupational health experience. He had the idea for field safety apps in 2010 and began building them in 2025. He took up stand-up comedy through the Armed Services Arts Partnership in 2024, which led to the Punchline Foundry apps. A foodie who loves regional differences in food, he also built the Flavor Trek Wayfinder apps.
